Coaches

Manager - Matt Jenks

* Coach Jenks was born and raised in South Haven Michigan.

* Works at: Don Woodhams Inc. Ford Dealership-South Haven for 17 years. 

* Reserve Police Officer for the last 6 years. 

* Coached little league for 10 years

* Coached travel softball for 5 years. 

* His daughter Macy came to the Rebels this past season and has made huge improvements to her game due to the Rebel’s philosophy of the game.  We are all excited to pass on that philosophy to young players.

Assistant Coach - James Dotson

* Avid athlete for South Haven High School.
Team captain and earned All-Conference Honors in both baseball and
football.
* He coached the South Haven Junior Varsity baseball team for 5 years.
* Coached his son in baseball, football, and basketball the past 6 years.

Assistant Coach - Liji Hanny

* Resident of South Haven.

* South Haven Youth Development for over 20 years.

* Liji has been an Inclusion Specialist, volunteer and coach for South Haven AYSO and JYL baseball, a Special Olympic Coach and a board member for Curious Kids Museum. 

* In addition, he has been employed as an Management Professional for Boys & Girls Clubs of America at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Benton Harbor for 13 years, where he is currently the Director of Operations. 

* Liji passion for baseball and helping young people develop into productive and responsible citizens is why coaching baseball is a natural fit for Liji and he is truly excited about the opportunity to coach and lead this group of young men, GO REBELS!!!

Assistant Coach - Scott Markham

- Electrician for the City of Kalamazoo 

- 4 years coaching little league

- 1 year AYSO soccer coach

- Played High School Baseball at Parchment 

Assistant Coach - Mike McIntyre

Pitching and Hitting Instructor - Smiley Verduzco

Coach Smiley has been coaching baseball and softball for over 40 years. Smiley has coached each sport from youth leagues through high school. Smiley has also worked with college and minor league players. Growing up in California, Coach Smiley received his hitting instructions from Vince and Dominic DiMaggio, brothers of the great Joe DiMaggio. Coach Steve is his youngest son. His middle son, David, was an outstanding Division I pitcher at Yale, who was drafted by the Detroit Tigers and played in their Organization. Smiley's oldest son, Bob, played baseball, basketball and football in high school and was the starting quarterback at Yale in the late 80's.
